The Agricultural Sales Manager will oversee and lead the activities of the Ag Sales Department.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Hires and trains regional and local sales representatives and account managers.
Organizes and oversees the schedules, territories, and performance of regional and local sales representatives.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Provides leadership to the sales team and assists with the overall Agriculture Division.
Assists field sales staff with the preparation and documentation of product recommendations and use records.
Develops and implements selling activities to dealer and/or grower customers in marketing territory to achieve maximum sales and profitability.
Encourages and participates in regular prospecting customers to drive new business. Drive is required.
Responds to customer sales inquiries in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner
Works with Ag chem dealer and field sales staff with products, forecast, sales reporting and budget preparation.
Works closely with the office team and inventory manager to ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained to meet customer needs.
Motivates and encourages sales team to ensure quotas are met.
Works closely with marketing and sales support manager.
Reviews and analyzes sales and operational records and reports; uses data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and identify potential new markets.
Identifies and analyzes customer preferences to properly direct sales efforts.
Assigns territories and sets quotas for sales teams.
Consults with potential customers to understand their needs; identifies and suggests equipment, products, or services that will meet those needs.
Resolves customer complaints, staffing problems, and other issues that may interfere with efficient sales operations.
Collaborates with executive leadership to develop sales quotas and strategies.
Prepares sales budget; monitors and approves expenses.
Acts as company representative at trade association meetings.
Assures that the company image is developed and maintained favorably with customers and suppliers.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and effective communication (verbal, written and utilizing all media (Phone, email, text)
Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources
Excellent sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation skills.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce CRM, and related software.
Extensive Traveling
Knowledge of mathematical concepts and the ability to apply such concepts as fractions, percentages, and ratios to practical application with accuracy
Education and Experience:
Sales experience, especially agriculture sales experience is highly preferred.
Preferred Certifications, but not required: PCA, CCA or QAL
Working knowledge of agriculture precision information technology is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, Business Administration, or related field, OR
Comparable record of sales leadership experience required.
At least five years of sales and Management experience required.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Perform ride alongs with the Ag Sales Representatives.
