Job Summary:

The Agricultural Sales Manager will oversee and lead the activities of the Ag Sales Department. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hires and trains regional and local sales representatives and account managers.
  • Organizes and oversees the schedules, territories, and performance of regional and local sales representatives.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. 
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership to the sales team and assists with the overall Agriculture Division.
  • Assists field sales staff with the preparation and documentation of product recommendations and use records.
  • Develops and implements selling activities to dealer and/or grower customers in marketing territory to achieve maximum sales and profitability. 
  • Encourages and participates in regular prospecting customers to drive new business.  Drive is required. 
  • Responds to customer sales inquiries in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner
  • Works with Ag chem dealer and field sales staff with products, forecast, sales reporting and budget preparation.
  • Works closely with the office team and inventory manager to ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained to meet customer needs.
  • Motivates and encourages sales team to ensure quotas are met. 
  • Works closely with marketing and sales support manager.
  • Reviews and analyzes sales and operational records and reports; uses data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and identify potential new markets.
  • Identifies and analyzes customer preferences to properly direct sales efforts. 
  • Assigns territories and sets quotas for sales teams.
  • Consults with potential customers to understand their needs; identifies and suggests equipment, products, or services that will meet those needs.
  • Resolves customer complaints, staffing problems, and other issues that may interfere with efficient sales operations.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop sales quotas and strategies.
  • Prepares sales budget; monitors and approves expenses. 
  • Acts as company representative at trade association meetings. 
  • Assures that the company image is developed and maintained favorably with customers and suppliers. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and effective communication (verbal, written and utilizing all media (Phone, email, text)
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce CRM, and related software. 
  • Extensive Traveling
  • Knowledge of mathematical concepts and the ability to apply such concepts as fractions, percentages, and ratios to practical application with accuracy

 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Sales experience, especially agriculture sales experience is highly preferred.
  • Preferred Certifications, but not required: PCA, CCA or QAL
  • Working knowledge of agriculture precision information technology is preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, Business Administration, or related field, OR
  • Comparable record of sales leadership experience required.
  • At least five years of sales and Management experience required.

 

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Perform ride alongs with the Ag Sales Representatives.
  • Ability to drive long distances
