About Dahlton Ag Ventures

Located between Naicam and Archerwill, Sask. Dahlton Ag Ventures is umbrella company of Lyndon Olson Farms Inc. and Seed Source Inc. Lyndon Olson Farms is the farming operation that grows commercial and pedigree seed.  The pedigree seed grown is sold to customers by Seed Source.  Seed Source is an independent and wholesale retailer with agronomy services. Working with us, you will oversee agronomy decisions alongside a professional agrologist.  Gaining your experience of being an agronomist.  As well as, gaining experience in customer relation under Seed Source. 

 

Job Descripition

  • To manage the health of the fields from weeds, disease, and insects
  • To maintain records of crop staging, plant standability, and fertility
  • To maintain records of the farming operations of seeding rates, fertility rates, equipment settings, and bin storage
  • Mapping out Seed Source Client's fields and soil sampling for variable rate inputs with our SoilOptix top soil mapping program
  • Soil sample Seed Source client’s fields for constant rate fertilizing
  • To maintain professionalism with Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists?

 

Your Potential Experience

  • Work closely with a Professional Agrologists to gain experience in managing healthy crops in a budget
  • Gain experience to recommend pesticides with your knowledge of scouting weeds, disease, and insects
  • Learn how to soil sample fields and provide fertility recommendations
  • Learn about pedigree seed practices and the new seed varieties
  • Learn how a large farm operates
  • Help managing sprayer operators
  • Learning how seed must be stored safely overwinter   
  • Learning how to relate with customers and provide agronomy needs

 

What is Needed

  • Can communicate with others effectively
  • Engaged to learn new things and new practices
  • Willing to get your hands dirty and use some muscle strength
  • Can gather, record, and organize information
  • Know how to use Google Drive, Microsoft Office, WhatsApp and various other mobile apps
  • Must have a class 5 driver’s license
  • Must be studying or convocating in the College of Agriculture
  • Must be a member of the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists
