About the role

We are looking for an Indirect Procurement Specialist to join the growing team on a Fixed Term (2 year), full time basis.

An Elders Indirect Procurement Specialist is accountable for executing the category strategy to deliver cost savings, supply continuity and other efficiencies through development and implementation of best practice strategies, policies and processes.

The role proactively reviews their assigned categories and works with SMEs to enhance total value delivery through the RFx process, scrutiny of current contracts, supplier performance and streamlining internal processes.

They load level the work pipeline, using data driven decision making to drive out waste and identify new areas where improvements and more cost-effective management can be driven.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Source to Contract process and lead supplier negotiations
  • Use data driven analysis to determine category spend, benchmark analysis to calculate cost savings, identify where cost savings can be made and drive implementation
  • Engage stakeholders in procurement activities, ensuring that the needs of head office and network are balanced, and the voice of the customer is central to decisions
  • Manage key supplier relationships against KPIs and SLAs and conduct regular supplier reviews to ensure best practice procurement processes
  • Maintain a Team Procurement Pipeline, identify how to load level annual workload for themselves and the Team, and lead improvements to reduce peaks
  • Identify and drive improvements to Procurement and Procure to Pay processes
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with key stakeholders at all levels
  • Identify and escalate gaps in policies, processes and procedures to close compliance gaps
  • Proactively engage stakeholders and project manage the processes to ensure tenders, contracts and any transition periods are delivered on time, within policy and guidelines
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of vendor master data and category hierarchies
  • Ensure safety is a priority in all activities

About you

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in procurement or commodity management role
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or working towards these
  • Demonstrated experience using category management and spend analysis to identify and drive cost savings
  • Understanding of total cost drivers, inventory management, KPIs and SLAs
  • Experience leading Supplier Performance Reviews and routine meetings, using KPIs and SLAs to drive these
  • Can perform simple cost-benefit analysis and scenario analysis in Excel and apply the outcomes in decision making
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Sound business acumen
  • Ability to run tender process and manage contracts
  • Comfortable having difficult conversations
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • MS Office - proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams, including intermediate Excel skills
  • Understanding of master data in vendor management and spend analysis
  • An understanding of retail and network distribution, operations, fleet or agriculture is well regarded
