About the position:
Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, NexusBioAg the Manager of Agronomy supports the agriculture business and Univar Solutions and NexusBioAg customer base. Your excellent communication, agronomic, research, technical, marketing skills and knowledge of extension and training will make you an integral member of the NexusBioAg team. Your skills will support the business goals and objectives of NexusBioAg while, supporting and strengthening our customers.
The successful candidate can be based in Western Canada.
Key accountabilities:
- Coordinate, manage and oversee the NexusBioAg BioAdvantage Trial program, contracted trials and third-party research programs
- Develop and deliver initiatives and tools to meet consumer needs and strengthen the organization’s brand among existing and potential customers.
- Technical writing and content review for Sales and Marketing tactics including but not limited to digital content, presentations, brochures, and other business needs.
- Design and delivery of product and agronomic training to the NexusBioAg Sales Team and other internal groups.
- Design and delivery of product and agronomic training to NexusBioAg customers.
- Develop technical information for the Marketing, Logistics and Sales Teams.
- Review marketing communications to ensure agronomic and technical accuracy.
- Review external publications to ensure accuracy of NexusBioAg services and products.
- Support product and agronomic inquiries from NexusBioAg customers Enable the Sales Team to handle technically difficult product inquiries.
- Represent NexusBioAg with market influencers such as Commodity and Grower Associations, Suppliers, Provincial, Extension and Agronomic KIPs.
- Additional duties as required.
- Some travel is required.
- Interprets internal/external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services
- Lead projects with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
As the ideal candidate, you possess:
- B.Sc. / M.Sc. or higher (preferred) in Agriculture/Biology or related field, with emphasis on crop science, environmental biology and/or agronomy or equivalent experience. Specialization in one or more areas including Crop Nutrition, Extension, Crop Physiology, Agronomy, Weed Science, Plant Pathology or Entomology.
- Professional status required candidates should be eligible for PAg (Professional Agrologist) membership, with CCA (Certified Crop Advisor) or CCSC (Certified Crop Science Consultant) certification desirable.
- Total professional experience of 10 years.
- A good knowledge of practical crop production in Canada including in-depth knowledge of crop nutrition, agronomy, and pest management.
- Demonstrated collaboration, creative and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent oral and written and communication skills including the ability to clearly present recommendations and summarize complex issues.
- Experience in technology transfer.
- Experience in field research and analysis/interpretation of research results.
- Experience in training, education, and extension.
- An understanding of the Canadian Regulatory system including the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) and the PMRA (Pesticide Management Regulatory Authority).
- General knowledge of computer systems and windows based; word processing, data base, spreadsheet, and presentation/graphics programs.
- Good interpersonal skills as well as organizational and time management abilities are essential.
