THE ROLE

 

Senior Business Developer is the official title for this role. Company's primary buyer target are independent crop consultants, seed dealers, crop insurance providers and large growers. You will be responsible for originating, nurturing and converting relationships to drive their internal value to their customers via Company’s technology portfolio on a continuing basis. This role calls for a self-starter who is comfortable working primarily from a home office environment with the essential function of calling on large agribusinesses to sell precision ag technology. Regional client visits are a necessary ingredient for a successful business development.

 

 

This role is ultimately making the case that this technology is an indispensable turnkey or plug-in to be distributed alongside other services offered by crop consultants. As such you will be expected to:

 

  • Prospect and engage new customers including: seed dealers, independent crop consultant, crop insurance agents, and large diversified growers.
  • Nurture deeper relationships with key personnel from existing customers and strategic enterprise accounts.
  • Facilitate market intelligence for internal strategy, design pilot programs, and support our product roadmap.
  • Build and manage a world class sales and marketing infrastructure to plan, deliver, and expand the Company’s market share across all user segments
  • Take responsibility for annual revenue goals, as reasonably established by you and the leadership team
  • Add direct reports as the business needs grow
  • Develop and implement company sales strategy
  • Help develop pricing, bundling, and configurations for additional offerings
  • Live the company values and contribute to the overall strategy of the company

 

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • 5+ years of proven agriculture sales experience (preferably selling innovative products)
  • An orientation towards agriculture solutions selling is expected
  • Has worked and represented other products and services as a trusted partner with growers.
  • Relevant work experience in precision agriculture
  • Tech savvy with emphasis on precision agriculture solutions, inputs and farm management practices in row crop agriculture.
  • Driven to have an experiential disposition (willing to take risk)
  • Work from home position that requires the need to be self-sufficient
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills and ability to build enduring long-term relationships

 

 

COMPENSATION

 

  • Draw payment for 60-day onboarding period
  • KPI: onboarding, training, plus min of 10 qualified introductions and min of 3 engaged prospects, with a defined minimum contract value
  • After 60 days, 11% commission on gross sales upon payment (* adjusted if special pricing considered)
  • Travel reimbursement included
  • Potential for full employment and/or access to house accounts and territory allocation
  • At least 8 work hours per week (not including travel)

 

 

TRAVEL

 

  • This is a primarily remote role with occasional travel (about 20%)
  • About quarterly travel to company’s office in Effingham, IL
