About the role

The Financial Counsellor Support Officer (NT) is a newly created role with a focus on raising awareness of the Rural Financial Counselling Services and engaging new clients through promotion of available government assistance.

Responsibilities

• Raise awareness of the Rural Financial Counselling Services available in NT and engage new clients through promotion of available government assistance;
• Directly assist clients to access government assistance, including the Farm Household Allowance through the Department of Human Services and Drought Loans through the Regional Investment Corporation; and
• Provide support to NT Rural Financial Counsellors in supporting our NT clients

Education / Experience / Skills 

• Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience in primary production, agriculture, small business, counselling, finance, banking or accounting
• Primary industry specific knowledge or networks
• Ability to critically analyse the performance of a primary production business
• Ability to clearly present and communicate a range of financial and business options for business improvement or adjustment, with a focus on adaptation and change
