Technical Sales Manager for the South Valley California region will have the opportunity to expand upon ICL’s Innovative Ag Solutions business that already has a developed customer and sales base.  This role will be responsible for maintaining and growing the sales of the crop nutrition portfolio including granular, water-soluble, control release, and liquid fertilizers.  This will include customer relationship management from the distributor to retailer and grower level and a broad portfolio of ICL products.  This role will work closely with segment business development managers, agronomy, marketing, and sales operations to ensure a positive customer experience and the highest level of commercial excellence.  This is a home-based position that requires you to reside within the territory of Fresno, California south to Bakersfield, California.  The Territory includes CA Hwy 180 in Fresno south to Grapevine, Ca (Excluding the coastal region of San Francisco south).


I’m interested! What will I get to do in this position?

  • Build relationships with existing retail and distribution clients within the territory
  • Expand relationships with new distributors, retailers, growers
  • Develop a sales growth plan for market expansion within the territory 
  • Provide technical support to customers on the use of granular, liquid, water-soluble, and control release fertilizers used in Agriculture
  • Develop and execute the sales and marketing strategy through our own business plan including fastidious management of company funds 
  • Provide market insight on competitor activity
  • Produce sales forecasts on an annual basis and monthly updates to support the ongoing SOP process 
  • Represent the organization at trade shows, events, and demonstrations
  • Fully utilize CRM tool daily recording all customer interactions and review company reports to manage the territory 
  • Know and understand the financial expectations of the sales budget

 

What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?

  • Must reside in the territory as described above and be able to travel up to 50% within said territory
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or related field preferred with coursework in plant science, soil science, plant health and plant nutrition preferred
  • A minimum of three years of experience and demonstrated success with agricultural sales 
  • Existing distributor, retail, and/or large grower connections within the geography
  • Experience developing complete nutrient management programs following Good Agronomic Practices (GAP).
  • Analytical skills including the ability to read and understand nutritional values relating to soil, water, and plant material
  • Must be able to manage personal goals, and corporate objectives and keep a customer-centric focus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Map Point
  • Must have excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in an outdoor setting that may be cool, wet, hot, or dry and could require standing, walking, and lifting of up to 50lbs in cool, wet, hot, or dry conditions
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute in a team setting
  • Enthusiastic problem solver willing to think outside of the box
